Denitra Moffett

Secretary

Denitra Moffett is an Army Veteran who specialized in logistics both domestic and foreign that oversaw the largest combat support battalion deployment to the Middle East for 18 months and was responsible for the movement of people and their safety as well as the movement of equipment that including sending both into combat zones. Joined the United States Army at the age of 21 and trained at the Quarter Master School at Fort Lee in Virginia that specializes in international and domestic Logistics management with the motto “Infantry wins battles, logistics wins wars.” From there she deployed all over the middle east to include Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Syria as well as many missions that were state side in Texas, California, and Virginia to name a few. Denitra was responsible for the successful movement of over 3500 soldiers and equipment totaling at least $20 million from several states in the U.S. to overseas operation in the Middle East for Operation Spartan Shield which garnered her the Army Accommodation Medal, combat readiness medal and patch, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Overseas Service Ribbon just to name a few.

While serving her country, Denitra found the time to get her associate’s degree in paralegal studies from Hinds Community College with honors, and her bachelor’s degree from MS college in paralegal studies while raising her young son. After ten years of serving, Denitra retired in June 2021, and knew her civil service was not done. After moving to Pennsylvania when her husband Andreas got promoted to Major, she found her footing. She ran for public office in 2023 for county commissioner with one goal; be the change whether they wanted it or not. Denitra knew minorities were not listened to and properly advocated for, so she took the fight on directly to the elected officials to let them know we didn’t need a seat at the table, we were making our own. Although Denitra didn’t win her race despite making

history as the first black woman winning the primary for the seat, she didn’t go away, she made her own seat at the table and created the pathway for others join the fight. Denitra has relationships with other community organizations two of which she sits on the Board of Directors, police chiefs, city county officials and even the mayor.

Since living in Pennsylvania Denitra has obtained another degree from Penn State in criminal justice, DNC delegate for VP Harris, president for the Lycoming Women Democrats (first black woman to do so), special guest at the White House, panelist for racism and community policing reforms, and many more.

Denitra is a member of NALA, NSLS, board member of CASA and the YWCA. Denitra has been married to Major Andreas Moffett for almost 10 years and they share two children Christian (14) and Benjamin (4).
